Portable Cabin Rental Prices NZ: What You'll Actually Pay

September 28, 2026

Portable cabin rental prices in NZ range from around $75 to $300 a week depending on cabin size and rental term. But the advertised "from" price isn't always the number you'll actually pay. Here's a full, honest breakdown of what our portable cabins cost, using our real, published pricing across all four sizes.

Why the Advertised Price Isn't the Whole Story

You'll often see rental cabins advertised "from" a certain weekly rate, and ours are advertised from $75 to $250 a week depending on size. What's worth knowing is that this is typically the 12-month rate. The longer you commit, the lower the weekly price. Our shortest available term, 3 months, which is also our minimum rental period, costs more per week than the advertised headline figure. Neither number is wrong, but it pays to ask which term a quoted price actually applies to before comparing options.

Our Actual Pricing, By Cabin and Term

Tikitapu Sleepout (3.6m x 2.4m)
3 months: $95/week. 6 months: $85/week. 12 months: $75/week. Bond: $350.

Karāpiro Cabin (4.8m x 2.4m)
3 months: $130/week. 6 months: $110/week. 12 months: $100/week. Bond: $350.

Rotomā Cabin (6.0m x 2.4m, kitchenette and ensuite)
3 months: $245/week. 6 months: $220/week. 12 months: $210/week. Bond: $650.

Taupō Cabin (7.2m x 2.7m, kitchenette and ensuite, splittable into two rooms)
3 months: $300/week. 6 months: $265/week. 12 months: $250/week. Bond: $650.

Delivery is priced on application (POA) depending on your location across Waikato and Bay of Plenty, so it's worth getting a specific quote for your site rather than assuming a flat rate.

What Affects the Price

  • Cabin size. Larger cabins with a kitchenette and ensuite (Rotomā and Taupō) cost more than a simple sleepout, reflecting the added plumbing and fixtures.
  • Rental term. Longer commitments bring the weekly rate down significantly, up to 20 to 25% cheaper at 12 months versus 3 months on some cabins.
  • Bond. $350 for the smaller Tikitapu and Karāpiro cabins, and $650 for the larger Rotomā and Taupō cabins with wet areas.
  • Delivery distance. Priced individually based on your location.
  • Application process. A credit check is part of our standard rental application.

Getting an Affordable Cabin Rental That Actually Fits Your Budget

The most affordable option isn't necessarily the smallest cabin. It's matching the right term length to how long you actually need the space. If you're confident you'll need a cabin for a year or more, locking in the 12-month rate saves meaningfully over rolling 3-month terms. If your timeframe is genuinely uncertain, the 3-month rate gives you flexibility without overcommitting to a longer contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest portable cabin rental available?
Our Tikitapu Sleepout starts from $75/week on a 12-month term, making it our most affordable option, though the 3-month rate is $95/week.

Is a bond required for a rental cabin?
Yes. The bond is $350 for the Tikitapu and Karāpiro cabins, and $650 for the larger Rotomā and Taupō cabins, which include wet areas.

Does the price include delivery?
No, delivery is priced on application (POA) based on your specific location, so get in touch for an accurate quote.

Why does a longer rental term cost less per week?
Longer terms reduce administrative and logistical overhead per week of use, so we pass that saving on through a lower weekly rate at 6 and 12 months compared to the 3-month minimum.

Is a credit check required to rent a cabin?
Yes, a credit check is part of our standard rental application process to ensure suitability.
